Commercial Hard Floor Care Guides & Equipment Resources
The MJ University Hard Floor Care Center helps facility managers, custodians, schools, healthcare facilities, warehouses, hospitality properties, government buildings, and cleaning contractors maintain and restore commercial floors.
Learn how to clean, maintain, restore, protect, and extend the life of VCT, LVT, concrete, terrazzo, stone, gym floors, rubber flooring, tile and grout, epoxy, and other commercial hard floor surfaces.
Equipment & Chemical Recommendations
MJ University recommendations are based on facility size, floor type, traffic levels, labor availability, and cleaning goals. Smaller facilities may benefit from compact walk-behind equipment like the TASKI ULTIMAXX 360, TASKI Flexx, or dual-speed floor machines. Medium facilities may use TASKI scrubbers, riders, or TASKI robotics. Large facilities may require Kärcher ride-on equipment, Kärcher KIRA robotics, Pioneer Eclipse burnishers, and high-productivity floor machines.
Pioneer Eclipse floor care chemicals are recommended for most hard floor applications. Facilities using TASKI equipment may also benefit from TASKI IntelliPods and TASKI chemistry systems when appropriate.

Floor Pads & Brushes
The right pad or brush can dramatically improve cleaning performance. Pad color, brush type, floor surface, machine type, and soil level all affect results.
- Brush vs Floor Pads: How to Choose the Right Cleaning Setup
- Red pads are commonly used for light cleaning and spray buffing.
- Blue and green pads are often used for scrubbing and heavier soil removal.
- Black pads are commonly used for stripping applications.
- Diamond pads may be used for polishing concrete, terrazzo, and stone surfaces.
- Cylindrical brushes can help clean grout lines, textured floors, and uneven surfaces.
Strip & Wax Programs
Strip and wax programs are most commonly used on VCT floors, but similar finish and coating concepts may apply to certain sealed resilient floors when approved by the flooring manufacturer.
