How to Choose the Right Floor Scrubber Brush: Disk, Cylindrical & Side Brushes Explained

When it comes to commercial floor care, the type of brush you use is just as important as the machine itself. Whether you're managing a cleaning team or maintaining your own facility, knowing the differences between brush types—and how to find the right one—can help you clean more effectively and reduce downtime.

Brush Types & Their Uses

Disk Brushes
Disk brushes are round and rotate in a single direction. They’re great for light to medium scrubbing on smooth, sealed floors. Common materials include nylon and polypropylene.

Cylindrical Brushes
These rotate against each other and sweep while scrubbing. Ideal for uneven surfaces or areas with dust and debris.

Side Brushes
Mounted on the side of a machine, side brushes clean edges, baseboards, and corners that the main brush can’t reach.

How to Find the Right Brush Part Number

Check your machine’s parts manual
Look under the cleaning head or brush deck section for machine information or the model tag.
View Parts Manuals

Inspect the current brush
Many brushes have the part number printed or engraved near the hub.
